A Few Things Lately...
With my husband out of town over Easter weekend, the kids and I headed to a local park on Saturday to make our own fun. We had sandwiches from a local place for our picnic and then had our own egg hunt.
Later that evening, we enjoyed having my husband's parents visit and involve the kids in an Easter scripture game.
Sunday was nice and quiet for us. I made cinnamon rolls and we talked to Daddy over the computer later.
I only cried a couple times--missing being together as a family, you know, plus being 8 or so months pregnant brought up strong emotions for me. I'm grateful for a thoughtful husband who shows his love for me when he is far away with flowers. He knows just how to cheer me up. <3
In other news...
The two oldest boys have been asking to do a lemonade stand, so last week we made it happen.
Here's the sign they made:
Our oldest son, pictured below, with the "fresh lemonade" he made (with me giving directions) that morning. No mix, here, folks! Lemon juice, water and sugar, with sliced lemons floating in it. We enjoyed sipping as we sold :-)
All the kids wanted to come out and sit with us after a while. We set up as the junior high kids were walking home, so the kids smiled and waved and yelled "Fresh lemonade, 50 cents!" a lot. My kids thought that part was terrific.
It's funny, a lot of people smiled and waved, but not very many stopped. It's a shame people live their lives at such a pace that they miss such good things like homemade lemonade and sweet children's smiles. My sister came by with her girls and several neighbors stopped, and our favorite FedEx lady bought a cup, too. The boys made $3 and split it evenly. They felt very successful!
We also set up the kiddie pool in the backyard this past week as the temps are rising to almost 100' F! Our third son, age 4, spent the whole week in his swim suit. He liked to be able to hop in and out of the pool to cool off at any moment :-)
While it is always an effort on my part to be prepared to experience childbirth and bring new life into this world, I am in awe of the joy and excited expectation that I, and our family, feels as we wait to welcome in a new baby. There is so much JOY, and I am choosing to focus on that at present.
Hope you, dear friends, are all well and finding time to drink some lemonade and enjoy the people in your lives. May God bless you :-)
